What is RF Microneedling?

RF Microneedling is a popular non-invasive procedure which uses tiny needles or pins to deliver radiofrequency energy to rejuvenate facial skin. The treatment is a form of controlled skin injury. The heat stimulates the growth of healthy new skin, which can benefit common skin issues like acne scars and wrinkles in all skin types and pigments.  Dr. Koch utilizes the Pollogen LEGEND+ in a series of treatments with the leading microneedle RF VoluDerm technology.  VoluDerm treatments provide effective dermal volumizing, acne scar and pore size improvement, and skin tightening results without discomfort, bruising, bleeding, or downtime.

TriPollar is a non-invasive 3rd generation radiofrequency (RF) technology for non-invasive facial and body contouring. It uses surface electrodes to focus energy and heat the treatment area.  TriPollar RF delivers immediate and long-term skin tightening and rejuvenation, fat reduction and body contouring as well as cellulite reduction.¬ It can also improve stretch marks and scars. TriPollar is usually used in a series of treatments, and there is no discomfort, bruising, bleeding, or downtime.  Dr. Koch frequently recommends pre-treating the skin with TriPollar prior to VoluDerm microneedling for optimal results.

What happens during RF microneedling?

RF Microneedling is not painful and no topical aesthetic is needed.  

Dr. Koch carefully controls the depth of the needles beneath the surface of your skin. Once the needles are in place, he delivers the RF energy to stimulate collagen.

It’s common to have some redness after your treatment that resolves within a few hours. You might also see pinpoints of blood on the surface of your skin as your body begins to respond to the wounds.

You can expect to resume your usual activities soon after your treatment without any limitations.

How long do the results of RF microneedling last?

The results of radiofrequency microneedling aren’t immediate because it takes time for your body to produce new collagen. Typically, it can take up to six months from your initial treatment to see the optimal results of your microneedling procedure.

As new collagen grows, your skin will feel smoother and firmer. Your skin will also look more vibrant and youthful. With a good skin care routine and a healthy diet, you can expect to maintain your results for years - some of your treated skin will be "new" but it will continue to age.  Dr. Koch might also recommend additional RF microneedling procedures to help you retain your results in the long term.
